Senior Manufacturing Engineer; onsite

About the Role

Join the movement as a Senior Manufacturing Engineer on the Stack Forging Thermal Solutions team at Johnson Controls in Burlington, MA.

• Specification, development, and commissioning of manufacturing equipment for testing cold plates and production at scale.
• Design, develop, and commission scalable assembly systems for high-volume thermal system production.
• Develop and implement automated testing systems for cold plates and thermal systems.
• Own vendor selection, procurement, and qualification of high-value capital equipment for automated testing and assembly.
• Lead the manufacturing scale‑up project, defining resourcing, setting timelines, and establishing milestones.
• Act as a manufacturing subject‑matter expert for cold plates and thermal systems, setting technical standards for quality, process control (e.g., PFMEAs), and reliability.
• Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior engineers, production engineers, and production staff.

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Industrial, or related Engineering field.
• 7+ years manufacturing experience.
• 3+ years commissioning capital equipment.
• 2+ years experience with thermal‑fluid systems.
• Proven expertise with Lean Manufacturing principles.
• Direct experience with metal joining and fitting processes, preferably in a thermal management context.
• Experience in high‑volume production environments (e.g., automotive, consumer electronics, high‑power computing/data center).
• Experience working in a fast‑paced, high‑growth startup environment.
• Proficiency with 3D software tools for design, inspection, or CAM.

HIRING SALARY RANGE: $105,000 - $160,000. Includes a competitive bonus plan and a comprehensive benefits package.
