Shift Lead

Overview

The Patient Care Companion  Lead (PCL) helps foster a culture that is centered around quality patient care and teamwork. The PCL oversees all Patient Care Companions(PCCs) and ED Transport employees that are scheduled for their respective shift. The PCL reports to the Patient Companion Program Manager and Clinical Leadership. The focus of the PCL is to ensure all PCCs are supported whilemaintaininghigh-quality care for patients and all safety protocol.

• Mustmaintaina professional appearance.
• Be able to speak and write the English language
• Be knowledgeable ofbasic computer skills
• Be able to stand/sit forlong periods
• Be able to walk around forlong periods
• Be able to lift/transfer patientsinaccordancewithhospital policy
• Have excellentinterpersonalskills and coaching ability
• Have strong communication skills and be able to work independently

• Upon shift start, reportto staffing, ensure all PCCscheck in/outtimesare recorded onsign in sheet.
• Review 1-1 Assignments for concerns/swaps/shadow shifts.
• Develop daily breakscheduleand ensure each PCC gets their breaks.
• Responsible to round on active assignments andprovidepositivefeedback and corrections.
• Ensure assignment swaps are managed efficiently.
• Training new hires andobtainsignoffand file daily work assignment documents.
• Responsible to write and communicate incident reports,timely, with all pertinent information.
• Responsible for ensuring that their team completes annual tasks and trainings appropriately.
• Responsible for reporting call outs/tardiesandassistingwith contacting employees forbackfill.
• Ensure all employeesreviewtheir schedules andareusing the W2W application.
• Responsible for checking email and W2W every shift for updates.
• Responsible for reviewing weeklypostedschedulesforconcerns/updates.
