Charles River Development is an award‑winning provider of software and services to the Investments/Financial Services industry. This internal process improvement role, reporting as Assistant Vice President (AVP) of Systems & Automation, will act as a conduit within our financial technology ecosystem, working with platform engineering, product, and SaaS implementation teams. The position is not a maintenance role; the candidate is expected to be an agent of change, scrutinizing existing manual workflows, identifying gaps, and building automated bridges to ensure seamless, secure, and rapid software delivery in alignment with standard SaaS strategy.
The AVP has authority to challenge the status quo and determine how functionality is rolled out on the SaaS platform.
- Audit existing manual processes across the application lifecycle and design/implement automated solutions to eliminate toil.
- Develop and maintain robust configuration‑management scripts using Ansible, Python, and Power Shell.
- Work with product/engineering teams to optimize CI/CD pipelines for rapid, risk‑mitigated deployments of CRIMS applications.
- Ensure efficiency, availability, and configuration of the “CRD Development” SaaS platform by providing solutions based on sound technical knowledge.
- Adopt, customize, and implement industry‑standard Dev Ops policies and procedures.
- Create and maintain automated scripts/tools that build, configure, deploy, and test applications in different environments, supporting continuous integration.
- Install, configure, and test the system to meet product technical and business requirements.
- Work with an automated release‑management process for SaaS clients.
- Break down moderately complex processes into simple, reliable components.
- Work autonomously, taking a project from identified gap to automated solution without constant supervision.
- Experience in Dev Ops (or related) technologies.
- Proficient scripting with Python or other object‑oriented languages.
- Experience with Jira, Confluence, Azure Dev Ops, Artifactory, JFrog, and Git.
- Knowledge of web technologies, databases, server operating systems, servers, networks, job‑scheduling software, system‑monitoring software, clusters/high‑availability systems, and Disaster Recovery/Business Continuity.
- Familiarity with servers and networks;

SQL experience a plus. - Experience with SQL, MS SQL, Oracle Server, or Postgre
SQL. - Understanding of Infrastructure‑as‑a‑Service cloud providers such as Azure, AWS, and Oracle Cloud.
- Ability to write REST APIs in Python with a web framework.
- Experience using automation tools like Ansible, Puppet, Chef, or Run Deck.
- Knowledge of network protocols (e.g., WINS, DNS, TCP/IP, WinRM, SSH, SFTP, SMTP).
- 5+ years in a Dev Ops, Automation Engineer, or Systems Engineering role, preferably in Financial Services or Banking.
- Bachelor’s Degree in a technical discipline such as Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related field.
- Understanding of financial application logic and regulatory requirements of banking production environments.
$91,000 – $140,500 annual.
