Buyer, Supply Chain​/Logistics

Location: On-site (Worcester County, Massachusetts) - 5 days per week

The Senior Buyer is responsible for managing purchasing activities across multiple commodities in both New Product Introduction (NPI) and production environments. This role ensures material availability, cost optimization, supplier performance, and compliance with quality and regulatory requirements. This position is 100% on-site with no remote work or relocation available.

• Manage purchasing activities for NPI and production programs across multiple commodities
• Run, review, and take action on the Material Action Report (MAR) on a weekly basis
• Quote materials and verify continued quote validity
• Generate, release, and monitor purchase orders for assigned programs and commodities
• Maintain accurate purchase order dates and internal PO notes
• Review and action cancel, reduction, and increase messages
• Review and action push-outs and pull-ins to align with production requirements
• Utilize strategic purchasing practices to optimize cost, delivery, and material flow
• Negotiate with suppliers to achieve best value in price, quality, delivery, and service
• Perform cost analysis with a strong understanding of cost drivers and pricing structures
• Analyze and manage material requirements through the MRP system in alignment with production schedules and inventory objectives
• Work closely with Program Management on Purchase Price Variances (PPVs), material constraints, and problem components
• Collaborate with the Master Scheduler and suppliers to develop recovery plans when required
• Coordinate with the Receiving Department to ensure timely and accurate material receipt
• Provide material status updates to Program Management and leadership
• Develop and maintain strong, professional relationships with suppliers
• Mentor and support junior buyers
• Meet defined Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and departmental metrics
• Participate in daily meetings and provide regular status updates to Management
• Support Management initiatives and special projects as assigned
• Complete special projects and prepare reports as required
• Comply with AS9100, ISO 13485, ITAR, EAR, DoD, quality, safety, and corporate ethics guidelines
• Perform additional duties as required

• Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience
• Minimum of 10 years of experience as a Buyer in a manufacturing environment
• Extensive experience in both NPI and production purchasing
• Electronic component purchasing experience
• Strong quoting and cost analysis experience
• Proven ability to build and maintain effective relationships with suppliers, peers, and internal customers
• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, with advanced Excel skills
• Proficient with MRP/ERP systems (Epicor, SAP, Oracle, or similar) - Required
• Ability to read, interpret, and troubleshoot MRP requirements
• Strong knowledge of standard purchasing practices
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Strong customer focus with a service-oriented mindset
• Ability to adapt quickly, manage ambiguity, and perform effectively in a fast-paced environment
• Must be proactive, organized, and capable of managing multiple priorities
• Ability to read, write, and speak English proficiently
