Job SummaryAs part of manufacturing process operations, the Quality Control Technician is responsible for hands‑on inspection of manufactured parts in a fast‑paced ceramics‑parts production environment. This role is responsible for identifying visual and dimensional defects using magnification tools and ensuring that all parts meet strict quality and compliance standards.
EssentialJob Responsibilities
- Interpret and follow written work instructions, technical drawings, and SOPs to ensure product compliance with specifications.
- Work with minimal supervision to identify nonconforming materials and escalating findings according to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and regulatory or customer quality standards.
- Perform visual inspections using a magnifying glass or microscope for extended periods to detect surface, cosmetic, or structural defects in highly intricate and delicate ceramic parts.
- Accurately record and report defects into a MES (Manufacturing Execution System) system to ensure a high degree of data integrity.
- Achieve team production and efficiency goals by meeting or exceeding operational and quality standards.
- Communicate effectively with production, quality, and engineering teams to resolve quality issues.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives by identifying recurring defects or process gaps.
- Maintain adherence to 6S standards by ensuring quality inspection areas are clean, organized, and compliant with safety and operational procedures.
- Follow all PPE safety rules and policies such as use of safety glasses, safety shoes, gloves, lab coats, etc. as designated.
- Work cross functionally to perform ad‑hoc duties as assigned to promote a culture of teamwork and efficiency.
- Must be a U.S. Person as defined by U.S. export control laws (U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee).
- High School Diploma or GED, or equivalent certification/work experience in quality control/inspection role in a production environment.
- 1+ years of experience in a manufacturing or production environment in a quality control or inspection role, or other applicable industry related work experience.
- Strong attention to visual detail, including the ability to perform inspections under magnification for prolonged periods on highly detailed parts or assemblies.
- High level of dexterity to work on detailed surfaces that require small hand movements.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and maintain a high level of accuracy.
- Proven ability or familiarity with SOPs, work instructions, and inspection documentation.
Skills and Abilities
- Occasional flexibility regarding schedule for potential staggered shifts to meet production demand preferred.
- Ability to speak, read, understand, and adhere to work instructions and standard operating procedures in English.
- Ability to engage closely with engineers to develop and execute experiments as requested.
- Experience in pharma, bio, med device, defense, or aerospace manufacturing or related experience with highly detailed quality inspection preferred.
- Ability to pass standard vision and hearing test as part of pre‑employment testing.
