Overview
The Lahey Hospital & Medical Center Nursing Division invites a Graduate Resident Nurse to contribute to patient care in a high‑acuity neurology unit. This entry‑level role supports the development of nursing excellence and promotes advanced clinical skills during a structured residency program.
Responsibilities- Provide direct patient care under the supervision of a registered professional nurse, using the nursing process as a framework for practice.
- Participate in a Nurse Residency Program that balances clinical duty with educational activities.
- Apply clinical knowledge to care for patients in a blended‑acuity unit, including acute stroke, traumatic brain injury, seizures, epilepsy monitoring, and other neurological conditions.
- Collaborate with the vascular neurology team and, as needed, transition to critical‑care units to support patient care continuity.
- Maintain accurate and timely patient documentation within electronic health‑record systems.
- Adhere to established nursing policies and unit‑specific competencies.
- 36‑day/night shift rotation with 12‑hour shifts.
- Every other weekend commitment and holiday rotation.
- Graduate of a state‑approved nursing program (BSN preferred).
- Current Massachusetts nursing license or NCLEX registration documentation upon graduation.
- Basic Life Support certification from the American Heart Association.
- 0–1 year of related nursing experience.
- Basic computer proficiency and ability to navigate web‑based applications.
- Demonstrated interpersonal and organizational skills.
- Proficiency in clinical skills and knowledge required to care for patients according to unit‑specific competencies.
All staff must be vaccinated against influenza (flu) and COVID‑19 as a condition of employment.
