Russell Tobin’s client, a beverage company, is hiring a Testing Technician in Burlington, MA.
Location: Burlington, MA
Employment Type: Full‑Time / Contract
Schedule: Monday–Friday (additional hours as needed)
Pay Rate: $28 – $30 per hour
We are seeking a detail‑oriented and motivated Testing Technician to support product development, quality evaluation, and laboratory testing activities within a fast‑paced food and beverage environment. This hands‑on role involves preparing formulations, conducting analytical and sensory evaluations, maintaining accurate documentation, and supporting testing programs from sample preparation through data reporting. The ideal candidate has a strong scientific background, excellent organizational skills, and a passion for quality, innovation, and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities- Prepare benchtop formulations by accurately measuring, weighing, blending, and packaging ingredients into single‑serve portions.
- Brew and evaluate beverage samples using commercial brewing equipment.
- Conduct analytical and sensory testing on both pre‑brew and finished beverage samples.
- Label, organize, and store samples for shelf‑life and stability testing programs.
- Maintain detailed records of samples, testing activities, and results in accordance with established procedures.
- Perform mathematical calculations to scale formulations and determine batch quantities.
- Prepare samples for product evaluations, tastings, and stakeholder reviews while maintaining a professional presentation.
- Record, organize, analyze, and report test results using spreadsheets and database systems.
- Generate reports and compile data to support quality, testing, and product development initiatives.
- Filter, sort, and manipulate data in Excel to identify trends and summarize findings.
- Assist in training new team members on testing procedures, laboratory practices, and documentation standards.
- Troubleshoot issues related to formulations, brewing equipment, or testing outcomes and recommend corrective action.
- Support laboratory housekeeping, organization, and compliance with safety standards.
- Bachelor’s degree in a science‑related field required;
Food Science, Chemistry, Biology, or Engineering preferred. - Experience in the food and beverage industry preferred.
- Experience with coffee or coffee‑based beverages is a plus.
- Understanding of Good Laboratory Practices (GLP), Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), and food safety standards.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate records.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and other data‑management tools.
- Ability to analyze data, identify trends, and communicate findings effectively.
- Strong problem‑solving and troubleshooting skills.
- Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to adapt to changing priorities and work effectively in a team environment.
