Senior Software Engineer

Senior Software Engineer (State Street Bank and Trust Company; Burlington, MA)

Will provide engineering troubleshooting assistance to customer support teams and other development teams within Charles River and will contribute to the enhancement and maintenance of one or more Charles River Investment Management Suite (IMS) modules, components and related applications as a member of an agile scrum team.

• Implement user stories that meet the Definition of Done and acceptance criteria without producing new technical debt.
• Debug and fix defects that meet the Definition of Done and acceptance criteria without producing new technical debt.
• Write unit and functional automation for user stories.
• Contribute to customer success by understanding customers’ use of CRD products and the Fin Tech market.
• Continuously improve technical skills and the quality of the product (code, test, doc).
• Support backlog grooming by participating in user‑story sizing and identifying blocking issues impacting team commitments.
• Collaborate across scrum teams, improving efficiency and team productivity.
• Acquire knowledge of technology trends and industry innovations and apply them to products.
• Provide design and test plans, perform reviews of code, test plans, and design plans, and identify technical debt.
• Define tasks required for each user story to meet the Definition of Done and manage sprint risks.
• Mentor new hires.

• Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field with 3 years of professional Java engineering experience; or Bachelor’s degree in the same field with 5 years of experience.
• 3 years of experience working with Java, JavaScript, SQL, scripting languages, and distributed computing.
• Proven ability with object‑oriented programming, data structures, compiler/interpreter technologies, embedded systems, operating systems, relational databases (RDBMS), and new/advanced programming languages.
• Experience on small to medium sized projects with moderate supervision.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Collaborative teamwork skills.
• Experience with Agile development methodology.

$178,131 to $180,000 Annual.
