UII America, Inc., a subsidiary of Shanghai United Imaging Intelligence Healthcare Co. Ltd. (UII), is building an organization of highly motivated, talented, and skilled AI experts and software developers to strengthen our R&D capabilities and address the needs of our innovative products in the USA market. UII is a subsidiary of United Imaging Healthcare Technology Group (UIH Group). Since its founding in 2017 in Shanghai, UII has been delivering various artificial intelligence (AI) solutions to medicine and helping to transform the way healthcare is delivered.
UII has become a prominent international medical AI company that empowers smart equipment, supports biomedical research, and provides total solutions for clinical workflows from screening, diagnosis, treatment, to follow-up assessment. UII America, Inc. is building a world‑class research and development team in Boston. We have an immediate opening for a Senior Research Scientist in the field of NLP and agentic AI with the following qualification requirements.
- Research and develop automated evaluation pipelines for Large Language Models (LLMs) and multi‑agent systems in the medical domain, integrating clinical logic and bioinformatics standards.
- Design and train agentic LLMs for clinical applications, covering agent architecture, tool use, multi‑step reasoning, and long‑horizon task execution.
- Drive continual learning of medical domain knowledge into LLMs, keeping models current with evolving clinical guidelines, literature, and practice while mitigating catastrophic forgetting.
- Conduct deep‑div analysis on model performance from both technical (NLP) and clinical perspectives, identifying failure modes and hallucination risks, and providing actionable insights for model alignment and post‑training.
- Work closely with colleagues and management to develop company assets in NLP/LLM, agentic AI, and Conversational AI.
- Be ambitious to lead the changes in future Healthcare with innovations.
- PhD or Master's degree in Computer Science (AI/ML), Bioinformatics, Medical Informatics, Computational Biology, or a related quantitative/medical field; research or industry experience in LLMs/agentic AI is a plus.
- Strong interest in the intersection of AI and Healthcare, with the ability to bridge technical model evaluation and clinical domain knowledge.
- Strong programming skills with Python and hands‑on experience with modern deep learning frameworks such as PyTorch.
- Experience building or evaluating LLM‑based agents, including familiarity with agent frameworks, tool/function calling, the Model Context Protocol (MCP), and skills.
- Solid understanding of the LLM life cycle, including data preparation, supervised fine‑tuning, and reinforcement learning methods (RLHF/RLAIF/RLVR and on‑policy distillation).
- Familiarity with LLM evaluation and observability tooling and reasoning/agentic model families.
- Proven track record of publications in top‑tier conferences and journals (e.g., NeurIPS, ICML, ICLR, ACL, EMNLP, etc.) is a plus.
- Passion for applying AI to make a positive impact in the healthcare domain.
- Ability to develop practical solutions to challenging problems.
- Strong writing, communication, and cross‑disciplinary collaboration skills.
