Pay RangeThis range is provided by YMCA of Greater Providence. Your actual pay will be based on your skills and experience — discuss with your recruiter to learn more.
Base pay range: $15.00/hr - $25.00/hr
Position SummaryInstruct, supervise, and reinforce proper strength training procedures; provide encouragement and monitor the fitness area to ensure a safe environment.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities- Teach members proper use of all fitness equipment.
- Demonstrate and instruct exercises according to standards and guidelines.
- Develop and implement personalized exercise programs; maintain member records and ensure medical release forms are completed.
- Encourage members and serve as a positive YMCA ambassador.
- Stay informed about programs and facility schedules; assist members with directions to other services.
- Maintain a clean and safe environment; report equipment issues and supply needs.
- Ensure health and safety, perform rescue/first aid, and report incidents.
- Communicate warmly with members, making them feel welcome.
- Attend staff meetings and demonstrate YMCA values of caring, respect, responsibility, and honesty.
- Enhance professional skills through certifications and training.
- Collaborate effectively with staff, volunteers, and members.
Certifications/Training: CPR/AED (in-house), First Aid, YMCA Healthy Lifestyle Principles (within 3 months), YMCA Cardio and Step Aerobics Instructor, Foundations of YMCA Group Exercise, Foundations of YMCA Strength and Conditioning, Listen First, Child Abuse Prevention.
