Substitute Van Driver; Part Time - Part Time

Overview

The Burlington Council on Aging provides enrichment and support for Burlington’s senior population. The COA is committed to helping older adults of all ages & stages to remain active, independent, and engaged members of the community. We are currently looking for a Substitute Van Driver to provide transportation services to our seniors in order to promote their independence and well-being. This position will be called in as needed, to cover the absence of the regular Van Drivers.

• Drive a 10-passenger van to transport seniors to the lunch program, medical appointments, grocery shopping and recreational programs at the Senior Center
• Respond to urgent transportation issues
• Perform pick‑up and delivery service as needed, which may weigh up to 30 lbs

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Experience working with elders is preferred
• Patience and ability to adapt communication style to a diverse population
• Sensitivity, compassion and tact, and ability to respect and maintain confidentiality
• Experience in light truck delivery service is desirable
• General knowledge of the Town street system
• Must have a valid driver’s license with a good driving record

This is a non‑union position. Starting rate is $24.23/hour.

Hours will vary based on the need of the department. Must be available on an as‑needed basis during the following hours:
Monday, Tuesday and Thursday 9:00 am – 3:00 pm;
Wednesday 9:00 am – 5:00 pm and Friday 9:00 am – 1:00 pm.

Position is available immediately and will remain open until filled.
