Position Overview
The Sr. Merchandising Analyst is responsible for developing analytical models and problem‑solving approaches to address business challenges. The primary focus is identifying how various parts of the business can leverage data to operate differently and drive business results. The analyst works with business partners to align on approaches, recommend solutions based on analysis, and implement recommendations.
A Day In The Life- Take a business problem and build structured analytical approaches, including identifying needed data, required analysis, and strategies for synthesizing and presenting results.
- Design and build analytical solutions to enable recurring analysis of business performance.
- Scope, size, and plan the development of analytical solutions and set expectations accordingly.
- Translate high‑level business problems into discrete questions that can be answered using data‑driven models.
- Identify opportunities to improve business performance through analytical approaches.
- Translate model outputs into recommendations for how the business can operate differently.
- Develop and maintain effective working relationships with cross‑functional teams.
- Create strong partnerships with all areas of the organization that require interaction.
- Partner with stakeholders to drive implementation of recommendations from analysis.
- Keep individual, division, and company goals in mind when making decisions.
- Demonstrate strong communication skills in all interactions.
- Bachelor’s Degree with quantitative coursework.
- 2‑5 years of experience in analytics, management consulting, or merchandise planning (preferred).
- Experience with statistical analysis (preferred).
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organization skills; self‑motivated, collaborative, and eager to learn.
- Strong communication skills and ability to interact with all levels.
- Highly strategic with the ability to take initiative, multi‑task, and prioritize projects successfully to meet deadlines.
- Strong project management skills and ability to collaborate productively with many departments.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
- Strong sense of business/retail math.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize, analyze, and disseminate significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy.
