Overview
The Assistant Manager will need great customer service skills as they will be required to field customer questions and complaints when necessary. This position will aid the Waterfront & Parks Campground & Beach Manager in overseeing all the city beaches and water access points as well as the Campground. The Assistant Manager will be responsible for scheduling beach staff at North Beach.
The Assistant Managers will aid the Waterfront & Parks Campground & Beach Manager in the training of seasonal employees for North Beach Park as well as the Water Quality Team. The Assistant Manager will hand out daily assignments and check on staff to ensure all jobs are being completed. The Assistant Manager will assist the Waterfront & Parks Campground & Beach Manager in Cyanobacteria testing and checks as well as recording all beach closings.
The Assistant Manager is required to learn the Campground software and will need to aid the Waterfront & Parks Campground & Beach Manager with daily money tallying and bank deposits.
- Assist the Waterfront & Parks Campground & Beach Manager in scheduling beach staff at North Beach.
- Aid in the training of seasonal employees for North Beach Park as well as the Water Quality Team.
- Hand out daily assignments and check on staff to ensure all jobs are completed.
- Assist in Cyanobacteria testing and checks and in recording all beach closings.
- Learn the Campground software and aid with daily money tallying and bank deposits.
- Answer phones, make reservations, field customer questions, and maintain good computer and customer service skills.
- Assist campers with sites, cleaning bathrooms, wrapping firewood, and general lawn maintenance.
- Produce weekly employee schedules.
- Provide strong customer service and the ability to work alone or in a group.
- Train new employees.
- Assist beach customers as needed, empty trash and recycling, clean bathrooms, and park cars in the field.
- Be willing to learn new skills and to learn about and spot Cyanobacteria and water quality based on BPRW’s water testing.
- Ability to actively support City diversity, equity, and cultural competency efforts within stated job responsibilities and work effectively across diverse cultures and constituencies.
- Demonstrate commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion through ongoing trainings and professional development.
- Previous beach work experience and money handling and supervisory experience are required.
- Previous scheduling experience.
- Age 20 or older and a valid driver’s license with the ability to pass a motor vehicle check; operation of City or personal vehicle for City business requires insurance coverage.
- Willingness to work weekends and holidays; first aid certification or ability to become certified before work begins; ability to work outdoors in all weather.
