The Asset Protection Systems & Reporting Analyst is a key contributor to our shortage reduction strategy and is responsible for identifying, analyzing, and helping to prevent internal and external loss, including theft, fraud, and cash discrepancies. This role leverages advanced exception-based reporting, surveillance systems (CCTV), and investigative tools to deliver actionable intelligence that strengthens asset protection outcomes across the organization. Through close collaboration with field Asset Protection partners and the Complex Investigations Team, the Analyst is responsible for creating, maintaining and ensuring the success of exception reporting with a focus on root cause, providing trend analysis and owning the necessary data to assist in the successful resolve of external investigations.
This role is responsible for ensuring key business partners are trained in external theft queries and maintain a state of continuous improvement by refining the data and creating new queries that support and grow our external theft programs. This role will also be responsible for creating and maintaining alerts that track our top refund fraud abusers and, when applicable, blocking transactions in partnership with AP partners.
The Analyst ensures that all investigations are thoroughly documented, maintaining strict adherence to company standards and contributing to audit readiness and compliance. Additionally, the role supports investigative processes through direct engagement with field teams, including conducting phone interviews. This position requires a high degree of analytical rigor, attention to detail, and systems proficiency, combined with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Effective communication skills are essential, as the coordinator must effectively partner across functions and clearly articulate findings to support decision-making and risk reduction strategies.
Design and develop exception based reporting and analytical tools to measure, analyze, and report on external theft for the enterprise.
- Own the continuous improvement for data driven external theft cases through the exception reporting system.
- Partner with AP Field Business Partners and CIT to monitor, report and react to top refunders and habitual offenders by creating and maintaining queries and alerts within the exception reporting platform.
- Through constant testing and development, identify new queries within the system that contribute to continuous improvement and provide status updates to management and stakeholders.
- Utilize a combination of external industry sources, internal metrics, and subject matter expertise to lead and support measurement, analysis and reporting of key external trends that support business change.
- Support teams with external theft responsibilities by building cases through the extraction of data and review exceptions in all systems to work towards successful case resolution.
- Provide regular updates to leadership and key stakeholders on external data driven cases and high-level refund fraud.
- Perform daily data extractions from POS Exception Reporting system (Secure) and other company-based data sources (X-Admin, Engage) to identify patterns of internal theft, fraud, and operational opportunities contributing to shrink/shortage loss to the company.
- Utilize CCTV to review flagged transactions during POS Exception Reporting to validate internal investigations or operational opportunities.
- Engage in broad investigative initiatives at the direction of supervisors and managers as investigation projects are initiated to include externally driven loss and fraud.
- Reviews all cases (internal and external) to ensure that closed cases meet company standards and reduce legal liability and risk.
- Communicates findings to RAPM's and builds compliance reporting to share with AP leadership.
Education:
