Company Overview
UFP Site Built is the leader in designing and manufacturing value-added wood and non‑wood products for the construction industry. We offer a wide variety of wood structural components, aluminum decks and rails, and cold‑formed steel structural components.
Position SummaryWe are currently looking for an Estimator to join the team.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities- Provide a detailed list of material estimates from architectural and engineered drawings for purchasing and field construction.
- Estimate and submit proposals for approval.
- Assist in coordinating the project at various stages with shipping lists, field support take‑offs, and construction.
- Communicate effectively with all organizational levels.
- Provide problem‑solving solutions using building codes and product information.
- Assist other estimators.
- Work with estimating and Project Management to complete assignments in a timely manner.
- Compile legible quotes for submission to clients.
- Perform other duties as required.
- 1–5 years of experience with multi‑family/commercial estimating.
- Proficiency in hand‑done material take‑offs.
- Working knowledge of Planswift or Excel (preferred).
- Experience reading architectural and engineered drawings.
- Construction experience with hands‑on framing (preferred).
- Proficiency in written and spoken English.
- Excellent written communication skills.
- Ability to read and understand construction drawings.
- Ability to read, understand, and interpret building codes.
- Strong math skills including algebra and geometry.
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Computer proficiency and ability to learn estimating software.
- Ability to interact effectively with all organizational levels and the public.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, prioritize work, meet deadlines, and work with little supervision.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel.
- Ability to perform duties independently while functioning as part of a team.
- Ability to sit at a desk for prolonged periods, be mobile in the work environment, and work hours mandated by management.
- Ability to pass a drug test.
- Annual salary: $45,000 – $65,000.
