About the Position
Locum - Physician - General Medicine NC

Join a dedicated team providing essential healthcare services to our nation's Veterans as a Locum Physician specializing in General Medicine. As a vital part of Veterans Evaluation Services (VES), a Maximus company, you will conduct one-time Compensation & Pension exams and Separation Health Assessments, supporting Veterans' benefits process with professional expertise.

Required Skills:

Valid medical license in North Carolina or ability to obtain one

Board certification or eligibility in Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, Orthopedic Surgery, or related general medicine specialties

Clinical experience in conducting interview-based assessments and physical examinations

Excellent communication skills and attention to detail

Ability to work independently in a clinical setting

Familiarity with medical documentation and report submission

Nice to Have

Skills:

Prior experience with Compensation & Pension (C&P) exams or Veterans’ health assessments

Knowledge of VA healthcare processes and requirements

Experience with telemedicine and electronic medical records systems

Preferred

Education and Experience:

Medical degree (MD or DO) from an accredited institution

Current and unrestricted North Carolina medical license

Minimum of 2 years clinical experience in primary care or general medicine settings

Previous experience with government or military healthcare assessments

Other Requirements:

Provider must own or have access to an office location within the specified radius for each city assignment

Willingness to travel locally within designated geographic areas

No prescribing or treatment responsibilities; exams are interview-based with minimal physical assessments (range of motion, muscle strength testing)

Availability to work on a PRN basis, including half-day (4 hours) or full-day (up to 8 hours) shifts

Ability to complete administrative tasks such as report submissions and addendums efficiently

Competitive pay at $624.00 per hour, with flexible scheduling options including half-day or full-day sessions to fit your availability.
