Are you a dedicated General Medicine Physician looking for flexible, impactful work that supports our nation's Veterans? Veterans Evaluation Services (VES), a Maximus company and vital partner in veteran care, is seeking talented providers to perform compensation and pension exams along with separation health assessments across North Carolina. Position Overview:
As a Locum General Medicine Physician for VES, you'll conduct essential interview-based exams and physical assessments such as range of motion and muscle strength tests, supporting veteran health evaluations nationwide. You will work on a PRN basis, utilizing your own office space at designated locations within a specified radius.
This role offers the flexibility of half-day or full-day shifts, allowing you to balance professional commitments with personal priorities. No prescribing or treatment is involved; your focus is providing accurate assessments to help veterans.
Required Skills:
Medical degree (MD or DO) with valid licensure in North Carolina
Proven experience in family medicine, internal medicine, orthopedics, or related general medicine fields
Excellent interview and physical assessment skills
Strong attention to detail and report accuracy
Ability to work independently within a designated geographic area
Reliable transportation and a suitable office setting for exams
Nice to Have
Skills:
Prior experience with compensation and pension examinations
Familiarity with veteran health assessments and requirements
Certification in relevant medical fields or additional training in disability examinations
Preferred
Education and Experience:
Medical degree from an accredited institution
2+ years of clinical experience in general medicine or related specialties
Prior experience conducting compensation and pension exams is advantageous but not mandatory
Other Requirements:
Own a suitable office space within the specified radius of assigned locations
Willingness to work on a PRN basis with flexible hours
Ability to complete exams, submit reports, and perform administrative follow-up efficiently
Local candidates only—travel is included in compensation
Hourly Pay Rate: $624.00 (flat rates for half and full days, with bonus incentives)
