Position PurposeThe Teacher plans and provides appropriate learning experiences for students. S/he provides an atmosphere conducive to intellectual, physical, social, and emotional development of individuals to ensure success for every student. The Teacher also supervises students in various settings, monitors and evaluates student outcomes, and communicates with students, parents, staff, and the community. The Teacher develops, selects, and modifies instructional plans and materials to meet the needs of all students, maintains appropriate records, follows required procedures, and monitors the use and care of equipment, materials, and facilities.
Teaching areas include all licensed areas such as Classroom, Core Curriculum, Specialty, Media, Languages, Remediation, etc.
- Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution in an applicable field for applicable level(s)
- Extensive knowledge of ABSS curriculum and integration of curriculum and ABSS policies
- Thorough understanding of teaching and learning process in grades K‑12
- Ability to provide instruction that reflects multiple perspectives and multicultural education
- Ability to infuse technology into the curriculum
- Ability to constantly monitor safety and well‑being of students, especially in inclusive activities
- Ability to motivate and inspire students
- Ability to maintain a clean and orderly environment
- Ability to perform general clerical duties
- Ability to maintain order and discipline in classroom and other school environments
- Ability to operate common office machines
- Ability to maintain basic files and records
- Ability to work effectively with administrators, colleagues, central office, school-based staff, students, parents, and community
- Excellent oral and written communication and human relations skills
- Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution in an applicable field for applicable level(s)
- Required:
routine meets standards or above standard evaluations with no action plans if transferring from another school system - Any equivalent combination of training and experience that provides required knowledge, skills, and abilities
- Valid Teacher’s License issued by NC in applicable field and for level assigned
- Not on NCDPI list of teachers no longer qualified and not in certification revocation hearing
- Valid driver’s license issued by NC Department of Motor Vehicles
- National Board Certification
- Demonstrated record of achieving Highly Qualified status on evaluations
- Spanish Speaking
- Plan a program of study that meets the needs, interests and abilities of students
- Regularly meet and instruct assigned classes at designated times and locations
- Create classroom environment enabling student involvement and achievement of objectives
- Provide instructional program to meet needs of all students
- Prepare for classes and provide written evidence of preparation upon request
- Guide learning process toward curriculum goals
- Establish clear objectives for lessons, units, projects, etc.
- Develop learning objectives consistent with student needs and ABSS framework
- Utilize instructional methods, resources, and evaluation techniques that motivate students
- Take safety precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities
- Maintain accurate and complete records as required by law and policy
- Assist with administration of student life rules and develop classroom behavior rules
- Be available to students and parents outside instructional day as required
- Establish respectful relationships with colleagues, students, parents, and community
- Plan and supervise assignments for teacher assistants and volunteers
- Appraise own effectiveness and apply skills to improve effectiveness
- Maintain and improve professional competence
- Participate in school management and share responsibilities for total program
- Attend staff meetings and serve on committees as required
- Administer and supervise standardized tests per ethics and regulations
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Principal
