Massage Therapy Instructor
The Massage Therapy Instructor provides instructional leadership for the Massage Therapy Program while maintaining primary responsibility for classroom instruction and student success. This position serves as the full time Massage Therapy Instructor for the program and coordinates the daily operation of the student massage therapy clinic. The Instructor does not supervise personnel or perform departmental management functions but serves as the primary faculty resource for students and adjunct instructors regarding instructional matters and clinic operations.
The Instructor teaches didactic, laboratory, and clinical courses; maintains office hours for tutoring, advising, and attendance management; supports student academic success; and ensures the student clinic operates in accordance with North Carolina Board of Massage and Bodywork Therapy (NCBMBT) requirements, North Carolina Community College System (NCCCS) standards, and Alamance Community College policies. This is a full-time, 12-month instructional staff position.
The Massage Therapy Instructor is expected to deliver high-quality instruction while maintaining instructional materials, supporting students and other faculty, and coordinating the Student Clinic.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities Include The Following. Other Duties May Be Assigned. Instruction (Approximately 60%) Teach assigned lecture, laboratory, and clinical courses in the Massage Therapy Program. Develop and deliver engaging instruction using evidence-based teaching methodologies. Maintain current course syllabi, lesson plans, instructional materials, and assessments. Evaluate student performance using objective grading methods. Integrate professional ethics, client communication, safety, and legal requirements throughout instruction.
Maintain instructional records, grades, attendance, and required documentation. Participate in curriculum development and continuous course improvement. Prepare students for success on the Massage & Bodywork Licensing Examination (MBLEx). Incorporate current massage therapy practices and emerging evidence into instruction. Student Clinic Coordination (Approximately 20%) Serve as faculty coordinator for the student massage therapy clinic:
Coordinate daily clinic operations. Schedule student clinic assignments and treatment rotations. Monitor student compliance with clinic policies and procedures. Ensure client records are completed accurately and confidentially. Maintain clinic quality standards and professionalism. Assist with client scheduling procedures as needed. Monitor sanitation, infection control, and clinic safety. Ensure clinic operations comply with:
North Carolina Board of Massage and Bodywork Therapy requirements OSHA standards HIPAA/privacy expectations College policies Maintain clinic forms and documentation. Address client concerns related to student clinical services. Evaluate student clinical performance. This position coordinates clinic operations but does not supervise employees or conduct personnel management activities. Student Support And Office Hours (Approximately 15%) Maintain regularly scheduled office hours. Provide individual tutoring and academic coaching.
Monitor student attendance. Communicate attendance concerns with students. Assist students in developing success plans. Provide referrals to campus support services when appropriate. Advise students regarding academic progress and program expectations. Support retention initiatives. Program Support (Approximately 5%) Participate in program meetings. Assist with student recruitment and information sessions. Participate in program accreditation and regulatory compliance activities. Assist with inventory and maintenance of instructional equipment.
Represent the program during campus events. Maintain professional development consistent with licensure and instructional responsibilities. Participate in institutional committees as assigned.
