We are seeking an experienced Engineering Manager to lead both the engineering and estimating teams. This key leadership role blends technical expertise with strong people-management skills to drive operational excellence, enhance manufacturing efficiency, and ensure accurate and competitive costing. The ideal candidate will bring extensive experience in sheet metal fabrication and CNC machining, along with a proven ability to lead technical teams and improve performance across operations.
Key Responsibilities Engineering Leadership- Oversee all engineering activities, providing internal support for the production of customer products and external guidance to customers on best practices for design for manufacturability.
- Collaborate closely with production teams to resolve technical challenges and improve manufacturability and process efficiency.
- Serve as the technical subject matter expert for complex customer requirements and engineering challenges.
- Evaluate, recommend, and implement new manufacturing technologies, processes, and equipment to improve capability and efficiency.
- Establish, maintain, and continuously improve engineering standards, procedures, and documentation.
- Lead and manage the estimating team to ensure accurate, timely, and competitive cost estimates.
- Utilize advanced estimating software tools to standardize and continuously improve estimating processes and methodologies.
- Review complex and high-value estimates in detail, providing technical input on feasibility, risk, and pricing strategy.
- Lead, mentor, and develop engineering and estimating teams by establishing performance metrics, conducting regular performance reviews, and supporting individual career development.
- Foster a collaborative and innovative culture that promotes continuous improvement and technical excellence.
- Recruit, onboard, and retain high-performing engineering and technical talent.
- Work closely with sales, production, and quality teams to ensure customer requirements are met or exceeded.
- Participate in customer meetings and technical discussions as needed to support project execution and relationship management.
- Contribute to strategic planning initiatives and business development efforts.
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in sheet metal fabrication and/or CNC machining environments.
- At least 5 years of management experience leading engineering or technical teams.
- Proven experience overseeing estimating functions and performing cost analysis.
- Expert knowledge of sheet metal fabrication processes, including laser cutting, turret punching, forming, welding, and finishing, as well as CNC machining operations such as milling and turning.
- Proficiency with 3D CAD software (e.g., Solid Works, Fusion, or similar platforms).
- Strong understanding of materials, tolerances, manufacturing specifications, engineering drawings, and GD&T.
- Experience working with manufacturing ERP systems.
- Solid understanding of quality control principles and inspection methods.
- Master’s degree in engineering or business administration
- Experience with ISO 9001 or other quality management systems
- Knowledge of lean manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies
- Background in multiple manufacturing industries (aerospace, industrial, transportation, etc.)
