Position: Substance Abuse Counselor 1- IDRC P/T

Burlington County Human Services Department is looking for an Intoxicated Drivers Resource Center for Substance Abuse Counselor 1 (Part-Time)

Description of Duties and Responsibilities
  • Conducting 3 lectures over the during the IDRC classes. The lectures will run from 1 to 1.5 hours per lecture. Classes are run 3 weeks per month for 8 months a year and 2 classes a month for 4 months per year.
  • During the classes the counselor will screen the client’s paperwork to determine which clients are referred to a treatment program for a further comprehensive assessment.
  • During the class the counselor will be assisting in the monitoring of the class to ensure the clients are all attending and paying attention to the lecture.
  • Counselors are responsible for interviewing the clients. All clients attending class will be interviewed, at this point the counselor will discuss with the client which treatment program will be contacted for the comprehensive assessment. Paperwork is signed and processed now. Information is then documented into 3 computer systems, Access, NJSAMS, and the state program DUITS.
  • There will be some clients who are not referred to a comprehensive assessment. They will be interviewed and the reports will be documented into 2 computer programs, Access and DUITS.
  • Once the treatment program is established, you will put together a packet of information for the treatment program to review prior to the assessment. This packet will either be scanned into the computer as an attachment and sent to the treatment program. Along with an introduction letter for the counselor introducing themselves as the IDRC counselor contact person for that client.
  • The counselor will be responsible for monitoring the client from this point on. If the client is not recommended for treatment following the assessment the counselor will process the paperwork in the computer systems and send a letter of completion to the client. Notes are to be placed into each computer program. All paperwork will be signed by the director.
  • During the month, the counselor will contact the treatment program inquiring as to the clients’ progress in the level of care he/she was recommended to enter.
Qualifications for Position
  • Applicant must possess a certificate as a Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor (CADC)
  • One (1) year of experience in counseling or social work
  • Bilingual in English/Spanish is a plus

Salary Range
: $23.02 per hour

Hours Per Day or Week
: 24 Hours Per Week/8am – 5pm (Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday)
