Full Time Cardiology Referral Coordinator/Pacemaker Clinic Position for Busy Multi-Specialist Clinic, located in Burlington, NC

We are currently seeking patient-focused individuals for a full-time Cardiology Referral Coordinator position within our Cardiology Department. Must possess and demonstrate strong customer service skills. Must have strong computer skills and be able to handle high volume of patient information. Knowledge of medical insurance not required, but a preferred plus. Experience preferred but not required. EPIC experience a plus but not required.
Schedule would be Monday thru Friday, 8:00 – 5:00 p.m.

Duties Include, but not limited to the following:
- Receive, review and Process incoming and outgoing Cardiology referrals
- Ensures referrals include appropriate clinical documentation, lab results, imaging and provider notes
- Prioritize referrals based on urgency and provider guidelines
- Enter and track referrals in the electronic medical records (EMR)
- Contact patients to schedule cardiology consultations, diagnostic testing or procedures
- Provide patients with appointment instructions, preparation guidelines and necessary documentation
- Coordinate scheduling with cardiologists, testing departments and ancillary services
- Schedule pacemaker clinic visits and remote device checks
- Make sure patients are seen in the correct follow-up times
- Coordinate with cardiologists and electrophysiology providers when concerns arise
- Puts patients in a room to see pacemaker Reps (no patient intake)
- Record device checks and patient information in the medical record
- Notify the provider is a device check shows something that needs medical attention
- Contact patients if their device check is missed or needs to be replaced
- Work with device companies and medical representatives if needed
- Maintains customer focus in stressful situations and exercises respect and patient confidentiality at all times.
- Demonstrates professional telephone technique with strong focus on communication style and knowledge of Duke Medicine to include its partners and affiliates.
- Utilizes the computer systems Maestro Care (EPIC), DHIS and eCentaurus according to departmental protocols to include accurate data entry and retrieval of information for reporting purposes.
