This role is responsible for product vision, strategy and execution; uncovering customer needs and developing insights that lead to innovative solutions; and building competitive advantage. As a member of the executive team, you’ll champion innovation, lead high-performing product organizations, and partner cross-functionally to deliver measurable business results.

We’re looking for a proven product leader with deep experience building teams, launching impactful products, and driving profitability in complex, multi-channel environments. Science education industry experience is a plus.

OBJECTIVE / PURPOSE

The Vice President of Core Product Management and Innovation (CPMI) provides strategic leadership and direction for the Core division. This leader is responsible for shaping and executing the product vision and strategy, driving product innovation, and ensuring that the company's product offerings meet customer needs, drive business growth, and maintain a competitive edge in the market.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND FUNCTIONS
  • Define and articulate a compelling long-term vision and multi-year roadmap for the Core product portfolio aligned to corporate strategy and growth objectives.
  • Establish product strategy, positioning, and value propositions grounded in customer insights, market dynamics, and competitive intelligence.
  • Prioritize initiatives and investments in innovation, revenue growth, and customer satisfaction.
  • Manages relationships with partners and outside organizations to further Carolina’s growth.
  • Manages the entire product lifecycle, from ideation and development to launch, growth and eventual sunset. Ensures timely delivery and high quality of all product releases.
  • Has direct responsibility for product development, product mix, product pricing, and strategic development for Core division.
  • Ensures product-market fit through ongoing customer discovery, usability research, and performance feedback.
Innovation & Market Differentiation
  • Drives innovation based on a deep understanding of our customers’ needs, identifying new product opportunities, and championing initiatives that support business growth and scalability.
  • Stays abreast of emerging trends, competitor activities and customer feedback. Leverages data and insights to inform product decisions and prioritize initiatives.
  • Fosters a culture of innovation, accountability, and continuous improvement.
Cross-Functional Leadership
  • Collaborate with Sales, Ecommerce, and Marketing to shape go-to-market strategies, pricing, packaging, and enablement.
  • Work with Customer Success and Support to incorporate feedback loops and drive product adoption, retention, and expansion.
  • Align with Finance and Operations on forecasting, resource allocation, and ROI measurement.
People & Organizational Leadership
  • Builds, mentors, and leads a high-performing product management team.
  • Plays an active role as a member of the company’s executive management team to set the company’s direction and achieve its overall goals.
Performance & Business Impact
  • Leads the Core division and takes primary responsibility for its growth and profitability.
  • Define and track KPIs tied to product success, including revenue contribution, adoption, retention, customer satisfaction, and time-to-market.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS

Education: Bachelor’s degree in science or experience in a science-related field is preferred. MBA or equivalent experience is preferred.

Experience: Ten years of progressive product management experience is required, at least five years as a manager. Product development and innovation leadership experience is a plus. Science education industry experience is also a plus.
