NSC Skilled Trades is seeking welders/fabricators in Burlington, NC.

Pay: $25/hr - $29/hr hours: 40 - 50. Duration: T2P Scope:

Metal Fabricator / Welder

A custom job shop metal fabricator handles diverse, low-volume projects rather than repetitive assembly line work. This role requires an adaptable tradesperson who can switch between TIG and MIG welding on different materials, solve unique fabrication challenges daily, and build custom projects from loose sketches or complex blueprints.

Key Responsibilities:

• Diverse Welding:
  Execute high-quality TIG and MIG welds on steel, stainless steel, and aluminum.
• Custom Fabrication:
  Layout, fit, and build unique parts from raw stock with minimal supervision.
• Blueprint Interpretation:
  Read custom sketches and engineering prints.
• Machinery Operation:
  Set up and run shop tools like press brakes, shears, bandsaws, and grinders.
• Fixture Building:
  Design and build custom jigs or fixtures to secure parts for precise assembly.
• Quality Verification:
  Check your own work against tight tolerances using calipers, tape measures, and squares.

Job Qualifications:

• Experience:
  
  Proven history in a custom job shop or prototyping environment.
• Dual-Process Mastery:
  Strong hands-on proficiency in both TIG (GMAW) and MIG (GTAW) welding.
• Material Knowledge:
  Understanding of how different metals react to heat to prevent warping.
• Problem Solving:
  Ability to figure out fabrication sequences for complex, non-standard shapes.
• Shop Math:
  Strong math skills for calculating angles, bend allowances, and dimensions.
• Experience:
  
  Minimum of 5 years in job shop environment
