Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Cardiac Progressive Care Unit (PCU) position requiring a minimum of 2 years of RN experience, Epic proficiency, and strong cardiac and telemetry skills.

Details
  • 30-bed private room Cardiac Medical PCU operating 24/7, with rooms remotely monitored by a Centralized Cardiac Monitoring Department (CCMD)
  • Primary patient population includes cardiac diagnoses such as CHF, ACS, arrhythmias, pre/post cardiac catheterization, rule-out MI, syncope, and pacemaker placement
  • Secondary patient population includes respiratory conditions such as COPD, pneumonia, and BiPAP-dependent patients
  • Patient ratio is 1:4 for patients on drips or BiPAP, and 1:5 for standard acuity patients
  • Day shift schedule: 3x12-hour shifts, 7:00 AM – 7:30 PM
  • Weekend rotation required; holiday coverage as needed
  • Scheduling is managed over 6-week periods via a self-scheduling system (Optilink), with assignments based on departmental need, patient work intensity, skill mix, and previous assignments
  • EMR:
    Epic (required)
  • Nurse Assistants available 24/7; RN Secretary available 7:00 AM – 11:00 PM
Requirements
  • Active NC or compact RN license required
  • Current BLS and ACLS certifications required; NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification preferred
  • Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
  • Cardiac PCU experience required
  • Epic EMR experience required
  • Proficiency in interpretation and management of dysrhythmias and telemetry monitoring
  • Experience with pre/post cardiac catheterization care, peripheral line and PICC line management, and cardiac and vasoactive drip management (including titration)
  • Experience with procedural sedation administration, chest tubes (Emerson and Pleur-evac), external CPAP/BiPAP, and tracheostomy management
  • Experience with Rapid Response Teams preferred
  • Previous Charge RN experience preferred
  • Driver's license (DL) required for consideration
  • Two professional references from a supervisor within the past 2 years required for consideration

  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply
  • Candidates must reside at least 50 miles from the facility to be eligible
  • All RNs must pass a Pass/Fail EKG exam during compliance, regardless of specialty; two attempts are allowed — candidates should prepare in advance as study materials are not provided by the facility
  • The facility enforces a zero-tolerance policy for tardiness and unexcused absences
