Travel RN - Telemetry - Progressive Care Unit

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Cardiac Progressive Care Unit (PCU) position requiring a minimum of 2 years of RN experience, Epic proficiency, and strong cardiac and telemetry skills.

Job Details

• 30-bed private room Cardiac Medical PCU operating 24/7, with rooms remotely monitored by a Centralized Cardiac Monitoring Department (CCMD),

• Primary patient population includes cardiac diagnoses such as CHF, ACS, arrhythmias, pre/post cardiac catheterization, rule-out MI, syncope, and pacemaker placement,

• Secondary patient population includes respiratory conditions such as COPD, pneumonia, and BiPAP-dependent patients,

• Patient ratio is 1:4 for patients on drips or BiPAP, and 1:5 for standard acuity patients,

• Day shift schedule: 3x12-hour shifts, 7:00 AM - 7:30 PM,

• Weekend rotation required; holiday coverage as needed,

• Scheduling is managed over 6-week periods via a self-scheduling system (Optilink), with assignments based on departmental need, patient work intensity, skill mix, and previous assignments,

• EMR:
Epic (required),

• Nurse Assistants available 24/7; RN Secretary available 7:00 AM - 11:00 PM,

Job Requirements

• Active NC or compact RN license required,

• Current BLS and ACLS certifications required; NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification preferred,

• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required,

• Cardiac PCU experience required,

• Epic EMR experience required,

• Proficiency in interpretation and management of dysrhythmias and telemetry monitoring,

• Experience with pre/post cardiac catheterization care, peripheral line and PICC line management, and cardiac and vasoactive drip management (including titration),

• Experience with procedural sedation administration, chest tubes (Emerson and Pleur-evac), external CPAP/BiPAP, and tracheostomy management,

• Experience with Rapid Response Teams preferred,

• Previous Charge RN experience preferred,

• Driver's license (DL) required for consideration,

• Two professional references from a supervisor within the past 2 years required for consideration,
