Locum Nurse Practitioner - General Medicine NC

Your expertise will support Veterans Evaluation Services (VES), a Maximus company, in conducting Compensation & Pension exams and Separation Health Assessments across multiple locations. This position is ideal for providers with their own office space, seeking ongoing PRN assignments, with the flexibility to work half or full days. Your focus will be interview-based assessments, involving primarily non-treatment exams, physical range of motion testing, and muscle strength evaluation—no prescribing or treatment involved.

Required Skills:

Valid Nurse Practitioner license

Experience in general medicine, family medicine, internal medicine, or orthopedic surgery

Strong clinical assessment skills

Ability to perform interview-based evaluations and physical assessments

Excellent communication and organizational skills

Reliable internet connection and electronic health record (EHR) proficiency

Nice to Have

Skills:

Prior experience with Compensation & Pension exams or veteran healthcare

Certification in relevant specialties

Familiarity with VA or military healthcare systems

Preferred

Education and Experience:

Master's degree or higher in Nursing from an accredited program

Minimum 2 years of clinical experience in general medicine

Proven track record in conducting medical assessments or exams

Prior work with government contracts or veteran populations is advantageous but not mandatory

Other Requirements:

Providers must own or have access to their office space within specified radii

Willingness to travel locally, as travel expenses are included in rates

Ability to complete exams efficiently within assigned time frames

Must complete required training and perform initial exams to qualify for bonus

Compensation & Benefits:

Hourly Rate: $402.00

Flat rates: $600 for half-day (up to 4 hours), $1200 for full-day (5+ hours)

Sign-on bonus: $650 upon completing training and first exams

Benefits include weekly pay via direct deposit, comprehensive medical coverage (W-2), competitive referral bonuses, paid sick time, licensure and certification reimbursements (when applicable), and travel reimbursement
