Burlington Recreation and Parks provide a diverse range of programs that enhance the well‑being of our residents. In addition to offering fun experiences, the City’s parks, programs and services give residents opportunities to improve physical and mental health, develop our youth, focus on the environment, and make a positive impact on our community.

This is a part‑time role within the Amusement Park area of Burlington City Park. The appointed individual’s main responsibility will be to operate the Train or Carousel, with on‑site training provided. The employee may also be assigned one of the smaller kiddie rides as needed. The position requires frequent weekend shifts from March to October, plus morning and afternoon weekday shifts during the summer months (June to August).

It involves working less than 1,000 hours per calendar year.

• Daily Operations:
  Open and close assigned rides at the start and end of each day.
• Safety Inspections:
  Perform daily maintenance checks on your assigned ride to ensure proper functioning.
• Customer Interaction:
  Load/unload guests, ensure ADA compliance, and explain ride rules and safety regulations to participants in a friendly and professional manner.
• Ride Operations:
  Operate one of two amusement park rides, including the Denztel Carousel and Miniature Diesel Train, and operate Kiddie Boats, Kiddie Planes, or Kiddie Cars as needed.
• Safety Monitoring:
  Continuously oversee ride activity to ensure the safety and enjoyment of all participants.

• Positive Attitude:
  Maintain an enthusiastic and upbeat demeanor at all times.
• Guideline Adherence:
  Commit to following all directives set by the manager and the NC Department of Labor.

• Must be 18 years of age or older.

• Previous experience in amusement park or carnival/fair operations is desired but not required.

The City of Burlington does not offer benefits to part‑time positions that require fewer than 1,000 work hours per calendar year.
