The Income Auditor owns the daily verification and audit of all hotel revenue, cash, and operating activity across Westport Hospitality’s managed properties. Working from each property’s prior day night audit, this role ensures every dollar of revenue is accurately recorded, reconciled, and reported in accordance with USALI standards. The position safeguards the integrity of daily financial data, prepares correcting journal entries, tracks tax liabilities, and supports the accounts payable and accounts receivable functions.

Reporting directly to the Controller, the Income Auditor is a key internal control point in the company’s financial operations.

Daily revenue audit - Verify daily revenue reports from each property’s PMS and POS systems, confirming that rooms, food & beverage, and other department revenue is complete and accurately posted. Review night audit packets for accuracy and completeness, escalating exceptions to the Controller and department managers.

Cash and deposits - Reconcile daily cash deposits and credit card settlements. Investigate and resolve over/short variances, unposted charges, and discrepancies.

Journal entries - Prepare and post journal entries for daily revenue, adjustments, allowances, rebates, and corrections, maintaining clear supporting documentation for each.

Tax and compliance - Record and track daily tax liabilities and support timely, accurate filings. Ensure all documentation supporting tax exemption claims is received, accurate, and in compliance with Vermont state requirements.

AP / AR support - Provide back up and support to Accounts Payable (invoice coding, vendor reconciliation) and Accounts Receivable (billing, collections) as needed.

Reporting and month end close - Assist with month end close, account reconciliations, and daily/weekly/monthly revenue and statistical reporting (occupancy, ADR, RevPAR).

Controls - Identify and recommend improvements to internal controls, audit procedures, and reporting workflows. Perform other duties as assigned by the Controller.

A minimum of an Associate’s degree is required. A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field or equivalent relevant experience is preferred.

1-3 years of accounting experience; hotel income audit, night audit, or hospitality accounting experience strongly preferred.

Strong Microsoft Excel skills and the ability to learn hotel-specific systems (PMS, POS, and accounting platforms).

High accuracy, attention to detail, and integrity handling cash and confidential data.

Able to prioritize across two properties and work independently under deadlines.
