Key Responsibilities- Lead the College as chief academic & administrative officer, serve as advocate for disciplines, build trust and relationships across campus and community, and support fundraising and development.
- Align the College’s structure and resources with a shared strategic vision, assess and propose changes to the organizational structure to best support academic and operational needs.
- Build infrastructure to support a growing research enterprise, secure and diversify external funding opportunities, and enhance grant development.
- Guide the College toward long‑term financial and enrollment growth, developing strategies for recruitment, retention, and program innovation.
- Foster collaboration within CESS and across campus and community; strengthen institutional partnerships and leverage outreach centers.
- Actively cultivate prospects for scholarly, philanthropic, and strategic partnerships; communicate the mission and vision; represent the College in policy and philanthropic engagements.
- Continue to strengthen the student experience by integrating research, practice, and experiential learning, supporting pathways, and maintaining a student‑centric infrastructure.
- Attract, retain, and develop an exceptional faculty and staff; create a supportive culture, provide professional development, mentorship, and clear expectations.
Required Qualifications:
- Earned doctorate in education, social work, counseling, human services, or closely related field, with a distinguished scholarly record commensurate with a tenured appointment as full professor at UVM.
- Experience in administration of a large academic unit, including strategic planning, financial planning, and enrollment management, with a track record of successful leadership.
- Record of success in advancing intercultural competence.
- Strong commitment to inclusive public education and service and appreciation of the public role of Land‑Grant institutions.
- Experience with alumni or donor relations and capability in storytelling and fundraising.

- Experience with licensure and accreditation.

- Capacity for empathetic, transparent communication and conflict resolution.
Target salary approximately $250,000, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
