Summer Track & Field Instructors
Summer Track & Field Instructors work in cooperation with Burlington Parks, Recreation & Waterfront staff to facilitate our track & field program for ages 7-15. They will be responsible for designing lesson plans/curriculum, instructing and supervising participants.
This position is for Mondays and Wednesdays from June 15 – July 20. Must be available from 6:00-7:15pm on those evenings and on July 18 for the VRPA State Meet which is an all-day event in St. Johnsbury.
Union Affiliation: Non-Union Pay Grade: $19.15 - $20.50 Hourly Remote Tier 1: Zero (0) days remote/week.
Essential Job Functions- Follow all departmental and rules and regulations.
- Assist Program Director in organizing and facilitating lesson plans/curriculum of program.
- Assist Program Director in supervising and instructing participants.
- Check area for safety hazards and report deficiencies to supervisor.
- Maintain a safe and clean environment.
- Attend staff meetings and staff trainings as required.
- Report all accidents/incidents occurring within jurisdiction to supervisor.
- Administer proper First Aid as required.
- Required to be on site before the program starts for set up and preparation.
- Required to clean up at the end of the day.
- Any and all other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements

- Previous experience working with children in a group or individualized situation preferred.
- Ability to supervise and organize groups of children for sport specific program.
- Knowledge of sport specific rules and regulations.
- A cooperative attitude and a team player.
- Must have a desire to work with children and demonstrate enthusiasm, dependability, and good communication skills.
- Ability to work independently under general supervision.
- Hold or obtain current CPR/AED and First Aid certification upon hiring.
