The Cancer Research Training and Education Coordinator (CRTEC) component of the UVM Cancer Center (UVMCC) is responsible for developing, coordinating, and evaluating cancer-focused research training and educational activities across the University of Vermont (UVM), the UVM Larner College of Medicine (LCOM), the UVM Medical Center (UVMMC), and the broader UVMCC catchment area. These efforts support the mission and strategic goals of the UVMCC and contribute to meeting National Cancer Institute (NCI) expectations for cancer research training, education, and workforce development.
Working closely with the Associate Director and other CRTEC leadership and UVMCC partners, the Cancer Training Program Coordinator will support the coordination, implementation, and evaluation of educational and training programming spanning multiple trainee and career stages, including high school, undergraduate, graduate, post-doctoral, and early-career faculty audiences. Responsibilities include supporting educational pipeline programs, trainee engagement initiatives, scientific seminars and events, curriculum and course development efforts, trainee outcome tracking, and program evaluation activities.
This position serves as a central point of coordination for multiple CRTEC initiatives and operates with a high degree of independence and the ability to maintain and grow excellent relationships within a collaborative, highly matrixed academic and biomedical research environment.
Minimum Qualifications (or equivalent combination of education and experience)
Successful applicant must have:
* Bachelor's degree in education, biological sciences, health sciences, higher education administration, public health, or a related field and four to five years of related experience required.
* Experience coordinating, implementing, and administering educational, research, outreach, or training-related programs.
* Demonstrated ability to manage multiple competing priorities and long-term projects in a complex, collaborative environment.
* Strong organizational, interpersonal, and written/verbal communication skills.
* Experience coordinating events, educational activities, or multi-participant programs.
* Ability to work effectively with diverse constituencies including students, faculty, clinicians, staff, and external partners.
* Experience with Microsoft Office and standard administrative and communication platforms.
* Excellent attention to detail, time management, and problem-solving skills.
* Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
Desirable Qualifications
The most competitive applicants will also have:
* Background or prior experience in biology, biomedical science, cancer research, health sciences, or STEM education.
* Familiarity with academic medical centers, biomedical research environments, or higher education programming.
* Experience supporting science-focused educational programming, trainee development, or research training activities.
* Experience coordinating seminars, workshops, scientific meetings, or outreach events.
* Experience with data management, trainee tracking, program evaluation, or outcomes reporting.
* Experience with educational technologies, database platforms, or learning management systems.
* Experience assisting with curriculum or course development activities.
* Familiarity with budget tracking, reimbursements, or program-related financial coordination.
