About the Role

ONE Arts, a nonprofit dedicated to high‑quality childcare grounded in the arts and creativity, is looking for experienced early childhood educators. Positions are available at four locations:
Burlington, South Burlington, Colchester, and Berlin. Both full‑time and part‑time roles, including float and auxiliary shifts, are offered.

• Provide the care, supervision and management of a class of children as Lead or Assistant Teacher, with float and part‑time opportunities.
• Develop activities based on observation of children’s interests, developmentally appropriate practices, and Vermont Early Learning Standards (VELS).
• Create and maintain a classroom schedule, moving children through activities such as snack time, group activities, bathroom reminders, lunch, nap time, outside exploration and more.
• Build caring relationships with each child, attending to their needs, interests, and questions.
• Create inviting learning environments with hands‑on activities that nurture curiosity.
• Use diverse learning strategies across multiple domains—reading stories, playing games, creating art, building activities—to support development.
• Guide social interactions, encouraging prosocial behaviors and modeling conflict resolution strategies.
• Use positive, encouraging language and implement behavior management strategies.
• Lead by example, modeling and coaching for teaching team success.
• Develop and maintain professional relationships with families.
• Attend staff meetings, conferences and workshops.
• Communicate with parents through daily informal discussions, check‑ins, progress reports and parent‑teacher conferences.
• Identify behavioral issues and collaborate with team members and parents to develop appropriate strategies.
• Document and support each child’s growth and learning using observation and assessment tools aligned with VELS.
• Assist in ensuring all center policies and state regulations are met.
• Maintain accurate attendance records.
• Help uphold classroom and center policies and procedures, including cleanup duties.

• Knowledge of developmentally appropriate practices for infants, toddlers, and preschoolers.
• Experience with culturally sensitive teaching practices.
• Desire to fully support and nurture children from diverse backgrounds and varying skill levels.
• Clear oral and written communication with children, families, and staff.
• Strong organizational and time‑management skills to meet multiple deadlines.
• Familiarity with assistive technologies, internet and email systems, and office suite software.
• Commitment to pursue professional development related to your Individual Professional Development Plan.

• Associate’s degree, at least 21 related credits in Early Childhood Education, or at least 12 credits in Early Childhood.
• 3 credit Child Development Course or equivalent.
• Demonstrated knowledge of current instructional strategies.
• Recent teaching experience or a minimum of 2 years working with children aged 6 and under.
• Vermont Educators License in Early Childhood Education or Early Childhood Special Education.
• Completion or willingness to complete First Aid/CPR, Mandated Reporter training, and VT orientation training.

Childcare work involves standing for long periods, walking, bending, kneeling, lifting and carrying young children. Workers must be able to stoop and kneel to engage at eye level. Duties often occur in noisy, hectic environments and involve outdoor weather elements such as sun, heat, rain, and snow during learning experiences.
