Description
Head Start is a federally‑funded, national child and family development program that provides comprehensive services for pregnant women, children from birth to age five, and their families. Services for children promote school readiness and include early education, health, nutrition, mental health, and services for children with special needs. Services for parents promote family engagement and include parent leadership and social service supports.

Full‑time.
Responsibilities- Serve as the lead teacher in an outcomes‑oriented, team environment.
- Provide safe, healthy, friendly, and developmentally appropriate environments and experiences for children ages 3‑5.
- Plan, implement, and assess curriculum and instructional strategies that support early childhood development.
- Manage classroom behavior and promote positive relationships with children and families.
- Document and maintain accurate records of child progress and classroom activities.
- Collaborate with Burlington School District staff and Head Start partners to enhance student learning outcomes.
- Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field.
- Vermont educator’s license with an early childhood education endorsement preferred.
- Experience in developmentally appropriate early childhood practice, child outcome assessment, behavior management, and curriculum planning.
- Commitment to social justice and ability to work with families with limited financial resources.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills; bilingual abilities a plus.
- Valid driver’s license, clean driving record, and reliable transportation.
- Physical ability to carry out required tasks.

CompensationSalary: $23.73 – $28.76 per hour (post‑probation). The first 60‑working‑day probationary period pays $23.73 – $28.08 per hour dependent on credentials. 40 hours per week, approximately 42 weeks per year (summer layoff).
