About This Role
Burlington Children's Space is seeking a Developmental Support Educator for the Young Toddler classroom. The educator will assist and support classroom routines as part of the teaching team, and provide specific support to a 36‑month‑old child with Down Syndrome.
The classroom has three co‑teachers and eight children (ages 1.5‑2.5 years). The supported child receives off‑site services in physical/occupational therapy and speech therapy. With the educator’s support, the high teacher‑child ratio allows all children to thrive in an accessible and safe setting.
This is a part‑time position: 8:00 am–12:30 pm, Monday–Friday, totaling 22.5 hours per week.
What You’ll DoAssist and support classroom routines as a member of the teaching team; provide direct support to a child with Down Syndrome; collaborate with co‑teachers and service providers; maintain a safe, inclusive learning environment.
Requirements- Experience with infants (8–15 months) and toddlers (18–30 months)
- Knowledge or experience in special education
- Strong communication, flexibility, and teamwork skills
- Attention to detail and a calm, warm, friendly demeanor
- Willingness to advocate for self, children, and the classroom team
- Physical ability to lift and carry toddler‑sized children and sit on the floor comfortably
Training in MTSS preferred.
