Our para educators are essential members of every school community. Working alongside teachers and specialized staff, para educators help students grow academically, socially, emotionally, and independently while creating welcoming and inclusive learning environments where every child can thrive.

We are currently hiring para educators across the Burlington School District in a variety of educational settings, including:

Help students build confidence during one of the most important transitions in their educational journey. Work alongside classroom teachers to support learning, communication, self-regulation, and positive peer interactions.

Multiple Opportunities Available

Kindergarten

Help students build confidence during one of the most important transitions in their educational journey. Work alongside classroom teachers to support learning, communication, self-regulation, and positive peer interactions.

Elementary Special Education

Provide individualized and small-group instructional support while helping students meet their Individualized Education Program (IEP) goals. Collaborate closely with teachers and related service providers to foster student success

Middle School Special Education

Guide students through an exciting stage of growth by supporting academic achievement, independence, and social development in inclusive learning environments at Edmunds and Hunt Middle Schools.

High School Special Education

Partner with educators to help students prepare for graduation and life beyond high school by supporting academic progress, communication, independence, and post-secondary readiness.

Library Support

Help create an engaging learning environment by assisting students and staff with library services, technology resources, circulation, and daily Learning Center operations

Magnet School Special Education

What You’ll Do

Depending on the position, para educators may:

  • Support students individually or in small groups
  • Assist teachers with classroom instruction and learning activities
  • Help students achieve academic, behavioral, and social-emotional goals
  • Support students with Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
  • Encourage positive behavior and student engagement
  • Foster communication, independence, and confidence
  • Assist with classroom preparation, instructional materials, and student data collection
  • Build positive relationships with students, families, and school staff
  • Create welcoming, inclusive learning environments where every student feels supported
