We are seeking a Systems Engineer with strong V&V verification experience to support the development, certification, and verification of aircraft systems for electric aviation platforms. This role sits at the intersection of
systems engineering, safety, certification, and V&V verification
, with hands‑on involvement across requirements definition, modeling, testing, and compliance demonstration at the Component, System, and Aircraft levels
.

The ideal candidate is deeply comfortable working in a certification‑driven environment

, and can collaborate effectively with certification engineers, DERs, design engineers, test teams, and suppliers
.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop, manage, and validate aircraft‑, system‑, and component‑level requirements
  • Generate and maintain requirements aligned with customer, regulatory, and certification needs
  • Ensure bidirectional traceability between requirements, verification methods, and compliance evidence
  • Manage requirements within an ALM environment (e.g., Polarion)
  • Provide critical design feedback related to safety, requirements completeness, and verification readiness
Safety & Certification
  • Apply SAE ARP
    4754A
    and ARP
    4761
    processes throughout the system lifecycle
  • Support and contribute to Functional Hazard Assessments (FHA), Fault Tree Analysis (FTA), and FMEA
  • Participate in certification planning and compliance demonstrations
  • Interface with certification engineers and DERs to support FAA approval activities
  • Support certification programs under Part 23 / 27 / 33
    , including electric propulsion systems
Verification & Validation
  • Author, execute, and maintain verification plans, procedures, and test reports
  • Define and execute requirements‑based test strategies at the appropriate level (Component, System, Aircraft)
  • Coordinate and execute lab, integration, and system‑level tests
  • Verify systems such as:
    • Vibrations, airframe, fuselage
    • Interiors
    • Doors & Transparencies
    • Cabin Equipment
    • Environmental Control Systems
    • Interior Lighting
    • Smoke Detection Systems
    • etc
  • Ensure verification activities align with overall certification schedules
  • Track and report verification status keeping traceability to support program management decisions
Modeling, Analysis & Test Support
  • Perform system behavior modeling to support validation activities
  • Support test automation and data analysis where applicable
  • Ensure verification deliverables meet certification expectations
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Software Engineering
    , or related field
  • 10+ years (up to 15+ preferred) experience on Part 23 or 27 aircraft or rotorcraft programs
  • Strong working knowledge of:
    • SAE ARP
      4754A
    • SAE ARP
      4761
    • FAA Order 8110.4C
    • RTCA DO-160G, DO-331, DO-178C
  • Experience with ARP
    4754A‑based verification
  • Experience with requirements‑based testing and traceability audits
  • Proficiency with ALM and verification tools (Polarion, JIRA, Confluence)
  • Experience with solid modeling tools (Onshape, Solid Works, CATIA, or equivalent)
  • Comfortable working in a cross‑functional, certification‑focused environment
  • Ability to work fully onsite in Burlington, VT
