The Geotechnical Applications Engineer will play a pivotal role in advancing the adoption of foamed glass aggregate (FGA) in commercial and infrastructure construction projects in North America. As a geotechnical expert on FGA, the Geotechnical Applications Engineer will have a deep understanding of FGA’s applications, uses, and product specifications.
Responsibilities- Provide geotechnical project support to ensure the implementation of FGA throughout project design and construction.
- Conduct ASTM testing and obtain approvals for municipal and Department of Transportation projects.
- Manage submittals for infrastructure and commercial construction projects.
- Work closely with the Director of Sales and Marketing to meet revenue and profitability targets.
- Converse with DOT engineers with familiarity in typical infrastructure applications.
- Engage with decision makers to drive the adoption of FGA.
- Identify and capitalize on opportunities to promote FGA in relevant industries.
- Serve as the technical subject matter expert for FGA during calls, presentations, and other events.
- Partner with the marketing team to create compelling assets, presentations, and product documentation.
- Represent Glavel on job sites to ensure safe and effective product delivery.
- Address and resolve technical issues and customer concerns during installation processes.
- Help identify projects using alternative lightweight fill and convert them to FGA.
- BS in Civil Engineering with coursework or concentration in Geotechnical Engineering (MS preferred but not required), with several years relevant experience.
- Understanding and interest in soil mechanics, embankments, settlement reduction, lightweight fill design, bridge abutments, MSE wall backfill, and slope stabilization.
- Detailed understanding of commercial and infrastructure construction management.
- Experience managing submittals and value engineering proposals.
- Demonstrated understanding of lightweight fill applications (MSE walls, bridge abutments, etc).
- Strong network of industry contacts throughout the public and private sector.
- Excitement for sustainability and innovation in construction.
- EIT certification or progress toward PE preferred.
