Are you a detail-oriented financial professional who loves numbers and supporting community impact?

At Vermont Housing Finance Agency (VHFA), we are on a mission to ensure all Vermonters have access to affordable housing. We are looking for a Loan Servicing Specialist who is part precision data processor, part accounting collaborator, and entirely results-driven.

This position is a core component of our Finance team, ensuring the accurate processing, reconciliation, and tracking of VHFA’s single-family and multi-family loan portfolios. If you excel at managing loan activity, building clean financial schedules, and solving complex accounting puzzles, we want you on our team!

The Impact You’ll Make Loan Servicing & System Maintenance
  • Maintain Portfolio Data:
Input and maintain accurate loan records across Agency systems, confirming terms, interest accruals, rates, and payoffs against legal closing documents.
  • Manage Disbursements & Activity:
Administer construction loan disbursements, monthly billings, rate modifications, and loan adjustments.
  • Maintain Complete Records:
Organize loan and servicing documentation within our document management system while helping refine written standard operating procedures.
Payment Processing, Billing, & Reconciliation
  • Process Payments:
Post loan and servicer payments, fees, and payoffs accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Manage Cash & Wire Transfers:
Confirm ACH and wire receipts, prepare ACH transmittals by bond series or funding source, and post verified entries.
  • Reconcile Accounts:
Reconcile borrower payments, billings, cash activity, and loan balances against supporting accounting records, proactively resolving discrepancies.
Reporting & Portfolio Resolution
  • Build Financial Schedules:
Generate trial balances, amortization schedules, and multi-family portfolio reports to support quarterly/annual financial audits and budgeting.
  • Support Special Transactions:
Coordinate the accounting and processing for loan modifications, restructurings, payoffs, foreclosures, and non-performing loans in partnership with Legal, Asset Management, and Finance staff.
The Perks
  • A comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, and vision coverage for you and the family or optional buy-out plan
  • Flexible Spending Account & Dependent Care Account
  • Company-sponsored Short and Long-Term Disability
  • Company-sponsored Life Insurance
  • Up to $4,000 educational assistance
  • Employee Assistance Program
  • Combined Time Off & Holiday Pay
  • Up to 6 weeks of paid time off for parental and family leave
  • Parking Reimbursement for designated lots
  • 403b Savings Account & 457 Retirement Plan
Requirements What You Bring to the Table

At least 4 years of experience in loan servicing, accounting, banking, real estate finance, or financial operations (loan servicing experience strongly preferred), OR an equivalent mix of education and experience.

  • Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office products, with an emphasis on advanced Excel functions and SharePoint.
  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills with a commitment to high data accuracy and logical issue resolution.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to maintain discretion when handling confidential financial information.
  • A heart for community and a deep alignment with VHFA’s VIIBE values:
    Integrity, Innovation, Belonging, and Equity.
Work Environment & Flexibility

This position offers a hybrid work structure. You will work in our collaborative office environment at least 2 days per week (typically Monday through Thursday), with the flexibility to work remotely the remaining days once fully trained and coordinated with your supervisor.
