Description
Are you a financial strategist ready to drive data-driven decision-making for affordable housing?At the Vermont Housing Finance Agency (VHFA), we are on a mission to ensure all Vermonters have access to affordable housing. We are looking for a Senior FP&A Analyst who is part financial modeling expert, part strategic advisor, and entirely results-driven.
This role leads the Agency's financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, and portfolio risk analysis. Working closely with Finance Leadership, Home ownership, Multi-Family Development, and Asset Management, you will transform complex datasets into clear, actionable insights that shape executive decision-making and safeguard our loan portfolios.
The Impact You’ll Make- Financial Planning & Strategic Analysis
- Lead Budgeting & Forecasting:
Develop and maintain long-range financial plans, dynamic forecasts, and monthly/quarterly variance analyses to identify emerging financial trends, risks, and opportunities. - Build Financial Models & Dashboards:
Design agency-wide financial dashboards, key performance indicators (KPIs), and sophisticated financial models to support strategic initiatives and management decisions. - Refine Revenue & Cost Allocation:
Partner with Finance leadership to design allocation methodologies, policies, and procedures that optimize resource deployment across programs. - Optimize Systems & Reporting:
Extract and manipulate data from financial systems, building efficient tools to streamline internal management reporting and external financial requirements.
- Analyze Portfolio Performance:
Monitor and report on the credit quality, risk trends, interest rate exposure, and concentration of metrics across VHFA's multi-family loan portfolio. - Support Scenario Testing:
Lead stress testing, scenario analysis, and risk assessments related to loan portfolios and associated financing. - Collaborate on Mitigation:
Partner with Asset Management and lending teams to proactively identify emerging portfolio risks and craft mitigation strategies.
This position offers a hybrid work structure. You will work in our collaborative office environment and remotely coordinated with your supervisor once fully trained, with in-office presence required for key agency meetings and events.

Experience:
At least 7 years of progressive experience in financial planning & analysis, accounting, or financial reporting, OR an equivalent combination of education (such as a Master's degree) and experience. - Financial Modeling & Tech Proficiency:
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, financial systems, data extraction, and business intelligence/visualization tools like Power BI. Experience utilizing core software and modern workplace technology (including AI tools) to drive efficiency. - Portfolio & Credit Expertise:
Strong understanding of financial statement analysis and accounting principles, with familiarity in credit risk analysis or loan portfolio performance metrics strongly preferred. - Communication &
Collaboration:
