Medical Records Coordinator
Location: Elderwood at Burlington, Burlington, VT
Salary: $24.61 - $30.68 per hour
Schedule: Regular Full‑Time, every other weekend required
The Medical Records Coordinator (MRC) supports the Nursing Department in ensuring the health, safety, and well‑being of residents by managing and maintaining accurate medical records. This role is essential in maintaining regulatory compliance, supporting census reporting, and contributing to quality assurance initiatives within our 150‑bed Skilled Nursing and Subacute Rehabilitation facility.

- Validate census information daily and submit census activity information to the Business Office or as directed.
- Submit census to required state department(s) weekly or as needed.
- Retrieve monthly reports from CMS.
- Organize and perform analysis on medical records of discharged residents and ensure completeness before filing.
- Prepare information for QA & R and perform any related tasks as instructed.
- At facility where applicable, supervise, schedule, and oversee Medical Records Assistant(s) including assisting in hiring, reviewing timecards, evaluations, training, onboarding, and administering discipline.
- Maintain MD/NP schedule.
- Manage role assignments for physician and nursing staff in HPN system.
- Maintain closed medical records and ensure their accessibility for retrieval/investigations and the proper destruction of closed records per company policy.
- Every other weekend required.
- Minimum of HS diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum of two (2) years of long‑term care experience.
- Demonstrated computer skills using databases and applications (e.g., Microsoft Office).
- Education/training in medical records processing leading to R.H.I.T certification preferred.
- Knowledge of medical terminology preferred.
- Requires regular interaction with residents, coworkers, visitors, and/or supervisors; ability to read, write, speak, and understand English at an intermediate or more advanced level.
