Travel Med/Surg Registered Nurse (RN) – Ortho Surgical – Night Shift | Burlington, VT 05401
Travel Med/Surg RN job in Burlington, Vermont (05401) on an Ortho Surgical Med/Surg unit (Miller

- End Date: 09/21/2026
- Contract Length: 26 weeks (assignment may range 16–32 weeks)
- Schedule: 36 hours/week
- Shift: 12-hour nights (Night Shift RN)
- Weekends: Required (may be more frequent than every other weekend)
- Unit: Miller 6 – Ortho Surgical Med/Surg
- Employment Type: Travel Contract
- Estimated Weekly Pay Range: $2,090 – $2,200
- Orientation: Bi-weekly orientations on Mondays
- Scheduling Note: No block schedules
- Transportation: Reliable personal transportation strongly recommended (public transportation is not accessible in this area)
- Experience: Minimum 2 years of orthopedic/ortho surgical RN experience required
- First-Time Traveler Requirement: If this is your first travel assignment, 4 years of strong Med/Surg experience with ortho plus experience in more than one large teaching trauma center is required
- Teaching/Trauma Experience: Experience in a large teaching trauma center required
- EMR: EPIC EMR experience within the past 2 years (non-negotiable)
- Certifications: BLS required; NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) required prior to start; ACLS required
- Work History: Complete work history required (facility type, bed count, EMR, etc.); explain any employment gaps over 30 days
- Seasonal Readiness: Winter driving preparedness recommended (all-season or snow tires typically needed Nov–Apr)
- Provide safe, evidence-based nursing care to adult Med/Surg patients with an orthopedic and post-surgical focus on the Ortho Surgical Med/Surg unit (Miller
6) - Perform comprehensive assessments, develop and update nursing care plans, and evaluate patient responses to interventions
- Administer medications and treatments, manage IV therapy, and monitor for post-op complications
- Collaborate with physicians, PT/OT, case management, and interdisciplinary teams to support high-quality patient outcomes
- Educate patients and families on procedures, recovery expectations, mobility precautions, pain management, and discharge planning
- Document accurately and timely in EPIC, following unit policies, clinical protocols, and patient safety standards
