Float job. Will also cover float covering from Brattleboro VT up to St Albans VT

Requires reliable transportation and a clean driving record. Mileage expenses paid.

At times will be required to travel to S. Albans and Enosburgh, VT locations as well as travel as far as Brattleboro and Westminster locations. With Brattleboro and Westminster being so far away, HM said they may have to cover a couple times a month. Will be paid drive time for S. Burlington location and the shift will only be a half day.

The main function of a phlebotomist is to assist in performing various assigned duties, troubleshooting, training and making work flow recommendations.

Position Responsibilities
  • Experience doing blood draws, labeling specimens, centrifuging specimens, recording maintenance data, and decontamination, updating patient information, etc.
  • Collects and stores specimens according to established procedures.
  • Properly explain in a clear but courteous manner the process of the venipuncture (blood drawing) and other specimen collection (e.g., urine or fecal) as required.
  • Demonstrate technique/s using straight needles and/or butterfly needles.
  • Understand all of the physicians' orders.
  • Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes.
  • Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by test order.
  • Check all test requisitions or computer label against script to ensure 100% correct.
  • Package specimens for transport.
  • Store specimen sample according to required temperature, place samples in appropriate collection container/tube, accurately label, and follow different procedures as outlined by protocol to maintain specimen integrity for transport.
  • Understand and comply with OSHA and DEP regulations.
  • Attend annual department trainings.
  • Answer telephone calls, read laboratory results to satisfy inquiries.
Qualifications
  • Minimum of 6 months' work experience performing venipunctures in a fast paced lab or hospital setting.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • High School diploma or equivalent or Phlebotomy Certification.
