Overview

This position is responsible for the oversight of the Dock masters, Waterfront Supervisors and general operations of the two municipal marinas and surrounding grounds/parks. This position will work closely with the Marina Manager to ensure efficient systems are in place to run the day-to-day operations of the Marina. In addition, this position has financial responsibilities to ensure the proper handling of cash and deposits through the Marina software.

This position will also schedule dock masters, supervisors for their shifts and provide seasonal staff support to ensure a positive workplace.

  • Operation of a City vehicle or personal vehicle to conduct City business without providing proof of a valid driver’s license to Human Resources will not be permitted. A valid driver’s license shall be defined as a current state of residence-issued license to operate a motor vehicle on public roadways. Position also requires the ability to be covered under the City’s vehicle insurance policy prior to operation of any City vehicles or non-City vehicles for City business

Responsibilities
  • Schedule Dock masters and Supervisors for appropriate shifts, ensuring proper coverage
  • Train Dock masters and Supervisors at the beginning of the season, and throughout as necessary
  • Perform daily cash-outs and follow proper money management; ensure all deposits go to the bank within a 24-hour timeline of completion
  • Prioritize positive and helpful customer service actions daily; train other seasonal staff to be helpful and courteous when interacting with the public
  • Oversee adequate stocking of facilities with necessary paper and chemical products
  • Assign routine maintenance and cleaning of all facilities; participate and lead by example with cleaning of all facilities and pumpouts
  • Maintenance and care of the two work vessels
  • Supervision of Burlington Harbor and Moorings
  • Accepting and processing transient dockage and mooring fees
  • Processing other POS operations (Pump outs, Hourly)
  • Track and assign light maintenance of Waterfront facilities, including painting, scraping, graffiti removal, spider web removal
  • Evaluate the docking systems, including bumper repair, cleat repair, daily assessment and daily cleaning
  • Trash removal across multiple facilities and parks as listed
  • Oversight of Park Landscaping: mowing, weed-whacking, debris removal of select Waterfront areas
  • Special Event supervision as needed
  • Informs patrons of park and harbor rules and regulations
  • Train all gate attendants on proper money handling procedures and high level of customer service
  • Assist in ensuring all seasonal boater contracts and registrations have been received or assign duties to staff
  • Ensure water samples are done in a timely fashion and appropriate notifications regarding beach closures have been made
  • Assist in counter staff operations including assigning duties; ensure cancellations are filled in a timely fashion
  • Act as facility and operations Manager in place of the Marina Manager when assigned
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Marina Manager
  • Position may require the operation of City vehicles and/or personal vehicles in order to conduct City business
  • Assure regular maintenance tasks including painting, scraping, graffiti removal, and other upkeep as needed
