We are seeking a detail-oriented and hands-on Mechanical Disassembly Technician to perform the tear-down and systematic dismantling of train cars and passenger rail vehicles according to project specifications and work instructions. This role requires mechanical aptitude, precise tool handling, and a strong focus on component preservation.
Key Responsibilities
Vehicle Tear-Down & Dismantling: Systematically remove interior components, panels, fixtures, equipment, cabling, and internal sub-assemblies on both upper and lower levels of train cars.
Component Preservation: Safely remove, handle, and preserve customer-facing, high-value, or reusable components to prevent unnecessary damage.
Fastener & Hardware Removal: Safely extract rivets, panels, and various standard/security fasteners using power drills, socket sets, Torx/security bits, hex keys, and specialized hand tools.
Cable & Wiring Handling: Disconnect and carefully manage large cable bundles, wiring harnesses, and associated hardware.
Quality & Damage Reporting: Identify damaged components or unexpected tear-down conditions (such as stubborn sealants/adhesives) and immediately report them to team leads or supervisors.
Material Disposition: Sort, route, and set aside components for retention, quality assurance inspection, or scrapping according to project guidelines.
Safety & Workplace Maintenance: Maintain a clean, organized work area and collaborate effectively with fellow technicians working in multi-zone vehicle setups.
