Academic and Program Support Coordinator
New American Youth on the Rise (NAYR) is an education attainment pathway program for middle and high school girls from Chittenden County Vermont immigrant communities designed to prepare students for successful transitions into college careers in health sciences. The overarching mission of NAYR is to enhance health equity for Chittenden County, Vermont immigrant communities by
1) increasing representation in the healthcare workforce that reflects their racial/ethnic backgrounds and lived experiences, and
2) increasing collaboration and trust between the academic health center and the local community by demonstrating clear investment in the local community. This position will provide individualized academic coaching while supporting program operations. Work directly with middle and high school students to strengthen academic skills, monitor progress, and promote effective study habits and goal setting. In addition, the role will contribute to program coordination, student engagement and collaboration with staff to ensure high-quality, culturally responsive programming that fosters academic achievement, confidence, and pathways to college and health science careers.
The position will also contribute to broader program efforts, including collaborating with staff on program evaluation, curriculum development, and grant writing.
Minimum Qualifications (or equivalent combination of education and experience)
- • Associate degree with one or three years of related experience. Graduate level education is preferred.
• Strong interpersonal skills.
• Demonstrated coordination and tracking skills with the ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously.
• Attention to detail.
• Competency in Outlook, Microsoft Office Suite.
• Effective communication and organization skills.
• Experience with grant writing.
Desirable Qualifications
- • Experience working with immigrant and refugee communities preferred Working with Chittenden County, VT immigrant and refugee communities preferred.
• Ability to get to and from worksite and public events.
Anticipated Pay Range - $25/hour - $27.50/hour
Other Information
A probationary period may be required, contingent on continued funding, occasional evening and/or weekends required (if non-exempt position, may result in overtime), travel to and from worksites required, this position is eligible for full-time telework in accordance with the university telecommuting policy, background check required for this position.
