Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced travel RN for a Surgical ICU (SICU) position at a large academic medical center in Vermont, requiring prior travel experience, Epic proficiency, and Level 1 trauma background.
Responsibilities- Work setting is the M3 SICU (McClure 3 Surgical ICU) at a large, 500+ bed academic teaching hospital
- Patient population includes post-cardiac surgery, vascular, trauma (Level
1), general surgery, neurosurgery, and overflow MICU patients - Floating required; may float to the MICU as needed
- 12-hour night shifts, scheduled Monday through Sunday with no block schedules
- Must be willing to work potentially all weekend shifts; minimum every other weekend required, with schedule adjusted to meet unit and patient care needs
- Epic EMR is used; experience within the past 2 years is required
- 16-week contract
- Candidates must have reliable personal transportation, as public transit is not accessible in this area; all-season or snow tires are strongly recommended November through April
- Any solid color scrubs are acceptable
- Bi-weekly orientations begin on Mondays
- Candidates living within 50 miles of the facility are considered local; candidates living 51–100 miles away qualify for a mid-range travel rate; distance is measured in a straight line, not by driving distance
- All employment gaps of more than 90 days must be explained
- Complete work history is required, including bed count, EMR system, and facility type for each position listed
- First-time travelers will not be considered; prior travel experience is required
- Active VT or Compact RN license required; NY candidates will be considered with proof of pending NY licensure
- Current AHA BLS and AHA ACLS required
- NIHSS certification required prior to start
- CCRN preferred
- Minimum 2 years of ICU experience required
- Prior travel nursing experience required
- Experience at a large (500+ bed) academic teaching facility required
- Level 1 trauma facility experience required
- Epic EMR experience within the past 2 years is required and non-negotiable
- Hemodynamic device experience required
- Two professional references from a Nurse Manager and/or Supervisor required, with at least one from the past 6 months and one from within the past year of employment
- SSN and DOB required for consideration
