Job Description

American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for a Medical ICU position at a large academic teaching facility in Vermont, requiring a minimum of 2 years of MICU experience and prior travel nursing experience.

Responsibilities
  • Position is in the Medical ICU (M4 MICU) of a large academic teaching hospital
  • Patient population includes medical ICU and overflow neuro cases
  • Hands-on procedures include IV insertion, management of multiple titrating drips, critical ventilator care, CRRT, IABP, and ECMO
  • Experience with multi-system disease, COVID, and complex critical care cases is utilized regularly
  • Required to float to SICU, Miller 3, and Miller 4 units
  • 12-hour night shifts, scheduled Monday through Sunday with no block scheduling
  • Epic EMR is used in this facility
  • 26-week contract
  • Responsibilities include managing multiple titrating drips, critical vent management, CRRT, IABP, ECMO, and IV insertion
  • Bi-weekly Monday orientations are offered
  • All employment gaps over 90 days must be explained
  • Complete work history including bed count, EMR, and facility type is required
  • Public transportation is not accessible in this area — a personal or rental vehicle is strongly recommended
  • Vehicles should be equipped with all-season or snow tires from November through April
  • This is an interview-to-offer (IVS) position
Requirements
  • Active VT or Compact RN license required; candidates without VT licensure will be considered but must apply for licensure promptly upon acceptance
  • NY-licensed candidates will be considered with proof of pending NY license
  • Current AHA BLS and AHA ACLS required
  • NIHSS certification required prior to start
  • CCRN preferred
  • Minimum 2 years of MICU or ICU unit experience required
  • Prior travel nursing experience required
  • Large academic teaching facility experience required
  • Epic EMR experience within the past 2 years is required and non-negotiable
  • Two professional references from a Nurse Manager and/or Supervisor required, with at least one from the past 6 months and one from within the past year of employment
  • SSN and DOB required for consideration
