Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg (Ortho Surgical) night shift position requiring a minimum of 2 years of ortho experience and current Epic proficiency.
Responsibilities- Miller 6 is an Ortho Surgical Med/Surg unit within a large academic teaching hospital
- 12-hour night shifts
- Floating to like units is required
- Weekend shifts are required; travelers may be asked to work more than every other weekend
- No block schedules permitted for any reason
- Epic EMR is used on this unit
- Bi-weekly orientations are held on Mondays
- Public transportation is not accessible in this area; a personal or rental vehicle is strongly recommended
- Vehicles should be equipped with all-season or snow tires from November through April
- All work history must include facility bed count, EMR system used, and facility type; employment gaps over 30 days must be explained
- Candidates living within 50 miles of the facility are considered local; candidates between 51–100 miles are eligible for a mid-tier rate; the travel rate applies beyond 100 miles — distance is measured in a straight line, not by driving distance
- Active VT or Compact RN license required; NY license candidates will be considered with proof of pending licensure included
- Current BLS certification required
- Current NIHSS certification required prior to start
- Minimum 2 years of ortho nursing experience required
- Experience in at least one large academic teaching and trauma center required
- Epic experience within the past 2 years is required and non-negotiable
- First-time travelers must have a minimum of 4 years of strong Med/Surg experience with ortho focus, plus experience in more than one large teaching trauma center
- Prior travel nursing experience is preferred
- Two professional references from a Nurse Manager and/or Supervisor are required — at least one from within the past 6 months and one from within the past year
- SSN and DOB required for consideration
- COVID and flu vaccination documentation or signed declinations required
