Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced travel RN for a 26-week Medical ICU (MICU) night shift position at a large academic teaching hospital in Vermont, requiring prior travel experience and Epic proficiency.

Responsibilities
  • Located in a large, academic teaching hospital setting
  • Assignment in the M4 Medical ICU (MICU), with overflow neuro patients
  • Floating required to SICU, Miller 3, and Miller 4
  • 12-hour night shifts, scheduled Monday through Sunday
  • Block scheduling is not available for any reason
  • Epic EMR experience is required; experience must be within the past 2 years
  • 26-week assignment
  • Provides critical care nursing to a medical ICU patient population, including overflow neuro cases
  • Bi-weekly orientations are held on Mondays
  • All employment gaps of more than 90 days must be explained
  • Public transportation is not accessible in this area; a personal or rental vehicle with all-season or snow tires (November–April) is strongly recommended
  • Candidates living within 50 miles of the facility are considered local; those living 51–100 miles away qualify for a different pay tier — distance is measured by straight line, not driving distance
  • First-time travelers will not be considered for this position
Requirements
  • Active VT or Compact RN license required; NY license with proof of pending status will be reviewed
  • Required certifications: AHA BLS, AHA ACLS, and NIHSS (NIHSS must be obtained prior to start); CCRN preferred
  • Minimum 2 years of ICU unit experience required
  • Prior travel nursing experience is required
  • Large, academic teaching facility experience required
  • Proficiency with Epic EMR within the past 2 years is required and non-negotiable
  • Experience required with multi-system disease, CRRT, IABP, ECMO, COVID, mechanical ventilation, and multiple titrating drips
  • Must be able to start IVs, manage central lines, and oversee critical ventilator care
  • Two professional references from a Nurse Manager and/or Supervisor required — at least one from the past 6 months and one from within the past year of employment
  • SSN and DOB required for consideration
